Creating this blog is the perfect project for a snow day. We have purchased 7+ beautiful acres in Monroe, Maine, and will have a new home! Our wonderful builder is Eric Pelletier of Belgrade, and though he's frustrated by the recent weather, things are moving along. Our purpose here is mostly to share images, so there will be lots of pictures and fewer words telling this story... We visited the land often before we owned it.
November 19th at 4:00 p.m. we closed on our land and construction loan, after several stops and starts. We were thoroughly exhausted with the process of looking for homes and selling our home, then changing our course and deciding to buy land and build, and moving from our house to a rental in Belfast.

the driveway goes in!
And then came the cellar hole, the foundation, the well and septic, and framing up the first floor.
That brings us to up to 24 hours ago, when a "wintry mix"
fell from the sky.
